Electric Motors for Scooters, ebikes, and custom projects.
You can get more power/speed by using a motor one voltage lower than your vehicles voltage. Although this will generate more heat, in our experiance "over-volting" one step (12 Volts) is safe as long as you are not putting heavy strain on the motor. We have a vehicle here at Dunarri, running at 60V, using two 48V motors in parallel, with several thousand miles on the clock with no problems.
The Key is to gear the vehicle correctly, and not put high stress on the motor.
